One thing Lee hadn't considered when he'd gotten his cancer diagnosis twelve years ago was that it would involve this much traveling. And, at first, it hadn't. There were treatment centers in New Orleans that he'd gone to pretty much exclusively the first few years. But then he started getting accepted to clinical trials, and of course none of those were close to home. So began his nomadic lifestyle.

Trial number seven is in Philadelphia. He'd been home almost a year before it started, and while he's still traveling light, leaving his wine bar and his few friends is weighing heavily on him tonight, his third night in the city.

He had treatment today, and it's probably not the smartest idea to be out, but he can't stand another night alone in his apartment. Philly is a big city, so finding a gay club isn't difficult, and even though he's sitting at the bar by himself, just like he would be at home, being in a crowd of attractive men is definitely not hurting his mood. And neither is the beer in his hand, cheap as it is.

Desperately, more than anything, Connor needs to blow off some steam. Working for Annalise is challenging, yes, but it's also exhausting and he hasn't had time to get laid in what feels like a century. He's been dancing, his hair pushed back from his face in sweaty furrows when he comes to lean on the bar, trying to catch the bar-tender's eye.

He glances at the guy sitting next to him.

"Hi."

The guy who comes up beside him at the bar smells amazing, that's the first thing Lee notices. The next thing is the low sheen of sweat on his skin, the dampness along his hairline. Lee figures the guy's been dancing, but even the unformed thought of other things that would make him sweat makes something in Lee's belly clench. It's definitely been too long since Lee last had sex.

"Hi," he replies, not even being subtle about checking the guy out. He's young and gorgeous and has a sexy, well trimmed beard. If Lee doesn't hook up with this guy, he's definitely thinking about him later. "Can I buy you a drink?" he asks once his eyes make it back to the guy's face.

"Yes," says Connor immediately, turning to look at the guy, giving him more than the cursory glance that he'd given him before. Usually, he's more at home in shirts, suits, but tonight finds him in a t-shirt and he folds his arms on the bar, knowing that it shows them to their best advantage. "Yes you absolutely can. Jack and Coke." He smiles. "Thanks."

Lee smiles at the way the guy turns, showing off his body. Oh yeah, this is already going very well. He flags down the bartender and orders the drink, and other beer for himself.

"My name is Lee," he says, and he offers the guy his hand to shake. It feels awfully formal considering he's obviously trying to pick the guy up, but he can't resist the chance to feel his skin, just in case he doesn't get to take him home.

"Connor."

He reaches out, taking Lee's hand and shaking it, making sure to maintain contact for a little while longer than necessary, his thumb grazing along Lee's before he lets go. If he was guessing, he'd put Lee's age at early thirties. Connor's never been bothered by age difference, anyway. It's a point of curiosity, more than anything else.

"Thanks for the drink."

It's been a long couple of days, but Lee is definitely glad he made the decision to come here tonight. Even if he doesn't get lucky, he has the memories of Connor's sweat shined face and the way his hand felt to take home with him.

"Absolutely," Lee replies, turning on his stool so he can face Connor more directly. "This is probably forward, but are you here with anyone?" he asks, taking a drink of his beer.

It might be forward, but it's also exactly how things are done and Connor's polite smile broadens into a smirk. He doesn't sit, turning against the bar instead to lean on one elbow and look at Lee.

"Free as a bird," he says, reaching for his glass and taking a sip. "You?"

"Likewise," Lee replies. It feels a bit weird, being face to chest with Connor, but he can't say he minds the view. "I'm new in town, actually. This is my first time at this bar." He pause to grin before he says, "You come here often?"

"Sometimes," he says, setting down his glass and giving Lee his full attention. "My apartment's not far. It's convenient. Not too many twinks." He flashes a grin. "Music's decent."

Lee grins at the twink comment. He feels exactly the same way, and he's more than glad that Connor not only isn't a twink himself, but also seems to be into whatever category someone might put Lee.

"My apartment is pretty close too," he says, licking his bottom lip in unconscious anticipation. "And I have a lot of wine there. If you're interested."

Connor gives the glass in his hand a critical look and then knocks back the rest in one long, easy swallow. It's a swallow that speaks of practice.

"Wine sounds good," he says. "Give me a minute to find my jacket?"

Lee probably shouldn't feel turned on by watching Connor swallow the rest of his Jack and Coke like a pro, but he's human and he's horny, so he isn't too critical of how easy he's being right now.

"Yeah, absolutely," he replies, similarly polishing off his beer and setting the empty bottle on the bar. "I'll be here when you get back."

It doesn't take him long. A minute or two and he's back, shrugging on the battered leather jacket that he's been wearing to bars since he was eighteen. He flashes Lee a grin designed to be boyish, charming. He's spent a lot of time practicing that grin.

"Alright," he says. "I am all yours."

"That's exactly what I like to hear," Lee replies, standing up from his seat and walking up alongside Connor. He ushers him out the door with a hand at his lower back, then slides his hands into his pockets as the walk toward Lee's apartment.

"So, Connor, what do you do?" he asks, making idle smalltalk to fill the time.

The hand in the small of his back is the tiniest bit possessive and Connor gets a little shiver from that. This could be promising.

"Law school," he says. "Middleton. Graduated top of my class at Harvard."

"Wow, Harvard," Lee replies, and he won't tell Connor, but the pride in his voice makes Lee a little harder. "That's very impressive," he adds. "What'd I do to land a guy who's not only gorgeous but also smart as hell?"

"Bought me a drink. Good face." Connor's eyes flick down and he doesn't say it but it's pretty clear on his face what he's thinking. "Plus, I'm feeling a little bit slutty tonight and you offered me wine. Which sounds win-win to me."

If he's calculated right, a little bit of a mouth isn't going to send Lee running screaming.

"Good face?" Lee repeats, his eyebrows going up. "I have a great face, thank you," he corrects.

"Also, in the spirit of full disclosure, I don't usually invite guys back to my place for wine, but I'm a little desperate to get you alone. And I bet your skin looks amazing when you've got a good red in you," he tells Connor, turning his head to look at Connor's throat, then moving his eyes back to Connor's face.

"A great face," says Connor, hands held up in surrender, that smirk still firmly in place. "My skin looks amazing period. But red wine does have a profound effect on my inhibitions."

"You don't seem particularly inhibited to me," Lee replies with a salacious smile. "But I have more than enough wine to get you wherever you want to be."

Taking a left turn and crossing the street, they're nearing Lee's building quickly. "Tell me, Connor, do you get a pretty flush when you've had a bit too much to drink?" he asks, imagining what that might look like.

"I get very warm and receptive," says Connor, passing his hand back through his hair, fixing the way that it tumbles across his forehead. "Very suggestible, too."

Lee already feels like Connor is receptive, and his brain can hardly handle the idea of him being more so. This is really his lucky day.

"That works well," Lee says, pulling out his keys and opening the outside door to his building, holding it for Connor. "Because I have suggestions."

Connor's eyebrow twitches. This might really be fun, depending on what kind of suggestions Lee actually has. Connor finds that these older guys can go either way - either they've got all sorts of awesome ideas or the sex turns out to be woefully pedestrian and short.

He steps through the doorway ahead of Lee and waits once he's over the threshold.

"Well, I am great at taking instruction."

Lee's eyes widen a fraction. "I bet you do," he says, tucking his hand back into the small of Connor's back and guiding him to the elevator. He feels very drawn to this guy, and he knows it's just a hookup and that Connor is way too young and free for him, he feels like he must have done something right to be bringing him home tonight.

As soon as the elevator doors shut, Lee tips his head close, lowering his voice to say, "I can't wait to get my mouth on you."

Connor leans back against the elevator wall, hips canted forward, eyebrow slightly raised. He moves his head so that his mouth is close to Lee's skin when he answers.

"I bet you can't," he says. "I bet there's a whole list of things you're dying to do to me."
