Lee doesn't respond right away, his eyes moving over Eric's face. He's dying, right now, and though he'll still be here tomorrow, he isn't sure how much longer he'll be able to say that. The chemo is helping, but it's not going to work forever, he's learned that lesson by now. When it stops, when his tumors start to grow again, Eric's going to have to watch Lee deteriorate slowly until his being alive is just a technicality. It won't be a life for either of them, and Lee doesn't want to put Eric through that.
"I'm sure," he says with a nod, his eyes wet. "It's worth it. The chance of having a life with you is worth it."
