“I am,” Lee replies. “I’m just a little nervous,” he admits with a laugh, using his chopsticks to push his food around a little.
“So the same day I met you, earlier, I met a guy named Kavinsky,” Lee starts, feeling a little strange that he still doesn’t know Kavinsky’s first name. “It turns out he and a friend of his, Ronan, have a kind of magic,” he tries to explain. “They can sort of dream things up,” he goes on. “A week ago they took me to this part of the forest that enhances their magic and we tried to dream me better.”
He laughs again, because it sounds so crazy. “It didn’t work,” he says. “But he made me some medication, painkillers and anti nausea stuff that’s been really helping during chemo. But the thing, the reason I haven’t told you, is because he’s been working on something else,” Lee continues, his stomach feeling a little fluttery at the idea of what these new pills might mean.
