Susan didn't know it, but the way she asked that question hit Lee in a very particular way, and despite the unpleasant, sickly feeling in his stomach, a warmth that had nothing to do with his fever rose to his cheeks. "I know it is," he replied, his heartbeat joining in with his blush. "That's the best way to like something," he went on. "After the very first taste."
Susan wasn't the type who asked for clarification, so he didn't expect her to question what he meant by his words. But he couldn't help thinking about the night he met Eric, how quickly they'd hit it off, how fast they'd fallen in love. He'd liked Eric almost instantly, and the feeling only got stronger the longer they were together.
"I'm glad my essential parts have been spared," he replied, smiling fondly. "And I hope I'm done throwing up too," he agreed. "I'd hate for you to have to see that again," he added, grimacing at the thought.
