"They're medicine," Lee told Susan, tracking her as she went into the kitchen to fetch the plate of pastries he arranged for her earlier. "They're used for reducing fevers and also as pain relievers," he went on as Susan finally sat on the couch beside him.
"Please eat," Lee said as she voiced her worries. "It won't bother me, I promise," he said, and though his stomach was roiling a bit, he didn't feel ready to vomit right away. He took a deep, calming breath through his nose. "I've had a lot of nausea in my day," he assured her. "I'm a professional."
