Lee laughed weakly at Susan's indignance, and though she could sometimes be abrupt or coarse, she truly had a good and caring heart. He wondered if that's what caused her so much displeasure at the idea of carrying on her grandfather's work, the urge to be a caregiver, to aid and support.
"I appreciate you staying," Lee told her, and smiled at her to show he was genuine in his gratitude. "If it the chocolates making me sick, at least you should be in the clear," he said, shivering under another wave of chills.
"I think I have a fever," he said after a moment, reaching up to feel his own cheek. He felt cold all over, but his skin felt clammy and warm. "In the medicine cabinet in the bathroom is some Tylenol," he told Susan. "Would you mind getting it for me?"
