Lee was careful about the way he took the cloak from Susan's shoulders, not wanting to encroach on her space too much, but also wanting to show her he wasn't afraid of having contact with her. Sweeping it away, he hung it neatly on a rack by the door.
Then he turned to her, looking down to see the box in her hands being offered to him. "Susan, thank you," he said with genuinely pleasant surprise as he took it, looking at the embossed lettering on the lid. "Chocolates," he noted with a grin as he lifted his gaze to hers. "Now I know this is an important gift, considering how much you like chocolate," he told her with a wink.
"I have a gift for you too," he went on, walking toward the kitchen, hoping she would follow. "Well, too of them," he corrected. "I bought some of that beer you like," he said. "And also this," he finished, handing the packaged electric coffee grinder to her.
